Buyuk Mardin

Mardin is a very historical city. If you love history, culture and food, Mardin is a must visit place. I was told that Mardin is the old Mesopotamian region. It is somewhat closer to Syrian border. We stayed at this old hotel. Eventhought the hotel looks old, it is well maintained hotel with a good view and location. You can visit the Mardin Bazar area in just few minutes and you will see so many souvenir shops and eateries. Mardin is a place rich with different varieties of food. Therefore, you can definitely get to experience a good food trail when you visit Mardin. The hotel is not far from the Mardin Airport. Morning sunrise is a magnificent view to experience when you stay at this Hotel. The surrounding of this hotel is so beautiful. The old houses and the buildings are unbelievably beautiful. If you are looking for pure luxury, this is NOT the hotel for you. However, the rich history is more luxurious for me. When taking taxis to this hotel, you need to walk to main entrance (the long walk) area, as some taxis refused to go inside the hotel compound. As usual, they have a Turkish rich breakfast on their menu.

The rooms were disgustingly dirty, and there was gum on the floor snot on the wall. The towel rack was falling off the wall, and the bathroom counter was barely staying up against the wall, the floor had drops of old dried coffee on it aswell as the wall by the window there was wrappers shoved up behind the air-conditioned the couch and chair was dirty the tables and remotes where sticky and dirty aswell aas the windows the shower was dirty especialy the shower head corners and the toilet seat was not the right size causing it to bend in and be uncomfterble when using the bathroom. We where told that we could eat at the restaurant but where turned away when we got there. We where told there was no space and where sent into the streets with no directions to get to a restaurant or shop where we could get food we where just told to go find one. The floor of the dining area was disgustingly dirty in the morning it had old juice spills straw rappers and peppers on it the breakfast was also very boring and had little verity I had more and better food at a 3 star hotel than this. The view is spectacular though but that was the only good part of my stay. I expected more especialy from a 4 star hotel

Dirtiest, unfriendliest, smelliest hotel we have ever encountered in Turkey over the years. Beautiful location. But that is where it ends. Staff disinterested in guests and no welcoming behavior. Dirty rooms, sticky remotes, nauseating bathroom, mucus on the shower walls … Should be a one star at most.
