Cais do Sodré Duplex by Homing

Although we could unfortunately only stay 1 night, we really liked our stay at Cais do Sodré Guest House. On the plus side, the suite was clean and tidy, the bed and linen were super comfortable, the coffee machine and water bottles were provided, and amenities as well, great location, close to the centre and Timeout market, and not too noisy so we could get a great night sleep! As soon as we booked we received detailed information on how to do the self check-in (by digital codes) and everything worked perfectly. On the other hand, the acustic isolation isn't that good, the internet was very slow, the TV only had 10 programmes (all portuguese), the waste bin was missing in the living room area, and the front door of the building was a bit damaged so it remained open most os the time. However, overall experience 4*! Thank you!

Location, plenty of bars and restaurants, near metro station and train station, very clean, comfortable, ideal for a weekend place.

AVOID. BED BUGS! I was bitten by bed bugs all over my body during my stay. Of course, the property denied having bed bugs and insisted that I brought them in. However, since bed bugs typically travel in linen that is highly unlikely. More likely (and I suggested this to the hotel who again, denied it) they were brought in by the cleaner when they changed our linen. My entire body is bitten and doctors have said that it is one of the worst cases ever seen. The very least the property could have done when we told them was properly investigate the matter and thoroughly clean everything so that future guests did not have to suffer but of course that was probably too time consuming and expensive for them. The safety and health of guests should always be a priority. Also do not stay here if security is a priority for you. The property provides you with a security code to enter the building - ours did not work and neither did another guests. Rather than sorting it out, the master code was given to both rooms. We had to email the property requesting that they urgently change the code to remove the possibility of other guests entering our room. Would give them a 0 rating if I could but unfortunately 1 is the lowest.
