We enjoyed our stay at Calheta beach! We booked a suite side sea view. It did have a side view of the ocean, but the room was across the street. However, the suite was large with plenty of space! The parking garage can get pretty full (parking is free if you book your room through their website). The staff at Calheta are very nice and super helpful! The entertainment in the evening was mainly dancing and singing, which was good! The food options were pretty good, but it would be nice if more food was available between mealtimes (there is a snack bar but it is fairly limited). Overall, we had a great experience at Calheta beach!
Overall the stay was bittersweet. The best: meals (breakfast was the best although lunch could be improved), swimming pools, location and friendliness of the staff. The worst: The mattress was sagging, it was impossible to rest on it. I complained 3 times at reception and they didn't pay any attention to me, nobody checked it, nobody changed it... (room 703). I tell you because other guests could suffer the same that me. The toilet was also broken but they fixed it 24 hours later. Finally I would give my stay a 3 out of 5. On holidays you go to rest and I came back with back pain and tired.
This place was just okay. We booked a seaside view room and our view was grass and shrubs. No sea view so that set the tone immediately, unfortunately. The rooms themselves are just okay. The food at the buffet was mostly mehh mixed with some decent stuff. They make you reserve the actual restaurants and they act like it’s booked up when you call or speak to someone at the restaurant but when we showed up for our reservation to Azul, there were maybe 8-10ppl there and they can seat probably 125ppl. Prolly like a 1/3rd of the menu was available for all-inclusive. Of course the one dish I wanted wasn’t available for some reason and I ultimately got an upgraded dish. That food at Azul was good though. So was the live music. The entertainment at the pool the other night was pretty terrible and during the day, it was okay. They try to get people involved and active so that’s a plus. The pool itself is about the same temp as the ocean, which is disappointing. Also, I was told we couldn’t reverse seats at the pool with towels (even though everyone did that), so by the time we got out to the pool in the morning, 99% of the seats were taken. Ultimately, the place left me wanting more.
