Aug 2025 spent a three day weekend in the cottages at Callaway resort. Roomy two bedroom, two bath, full kitchen, nice family room with fireplace and private screened in deck. Short walk to the Lodge where there were a couple of places to eat, conference rooms, swimming pool and access to all the Callaway amenities while there. Cottages were slightly rustic but very homey and I would stay near the lodge as opposed to cottages that are available closer to the beach. Rent a golf course if you like for the convenience but it is very pricey and only by the day. Well worth the stay at this lovely resort area.

All things wonderful here for family fun. We especially. I enjoyed the beach party at the lake and the food trucks had such a rousing selection of culinary delights. Having the trolley to transport us around the gardens and to the butterfly center was a plus. Callaway Gardens is being maintained in pristine condition. The amenities are superlative, and the grounds are well kept. The price was a value for all of the fun we had.

During our stay we visited the piedmont dining room for dinner and were disappointed in the quality of the food for the prices they charge. It was very bland, basic and overall just not food. Service was about the same as the food. We left the property to seek out better dining options for the rest of our stay. In addition we encountered a serious issue regarding safety. The fire alarm came on at approximately 4am and everyone evacuated the lodge. After waiting an hour for the fire department and or Lodge staff to offer some guidance another guest contacted Pine Mountain Fire dpt only to be told they had no idea we had an alarm at all. Subsequently we discovered there was no staff on site so as guests we were left confused and unassisted. Once again at 7 am another alarm, another evacuation. This time staff solution was to offer everyone a free breakfast. While I see that as some sort of good will, the experience calls for more than some basic flavorless food. In addition, attractions and rentals all close at 6 and there is nothing to do after that time. Beautiful property but very disappointing experience for the money spent.
