Awesome Spot , if you have an early flight or a quickly over. We flew in and flew out the next morning at five A.M., so it made sense to stay at the hotel. Super easy. We would definitely stay here again if we needed to. We also stayed with three young kids.
This is the worst place to stay. If I could give them zero stars, I would. The main reason I made a reservation was for the convenience of transportation to the airport and it is near the airport. However, that turned out to be a huge drawback. First of all, it wasn't the safest area to be in at night, especially with children, where the vans pick you up. I was told to call them when I was ready so they could pick me up and give me a room. I called as soon as my airplane landed, and the van arrived, but there were other people ahead of me, and they were only able to take two from my group. The driver told us to wait for the next van. When the next two van came, it took some air crew that had just arrived, even though we could have all fit together. It felt like they were prioritizing them over us. I guess they are better people. I was frustrated and exclaimed, "Don't you see that I've been waiting here for a while? We are tired, and I have children with me!" The driver ignored me and just kept telling me to wait. The other two people waiting for me at the hotel couldn't check in because both reservations were under my name. I felt like I was being treated rudely, and they deliberately made us wait. It wasn’t until I kept calling and I finally yelled at the hotel staff that a van finally came. After checking out, we had to wait outside the hotel for another 45 minutes for a van to take us back to the airport. The free shuttle service is terrible, and the food inside the hotel is not great — and way too expensive. Overall, the rooms look just like any other motel.
The hotel has a great location, but unless you want to spend three hours eating an overpriced bowl of pasta, I strongly recommend avoiding the hotel restaurant, La Huerta. I honestly can’t understand what’s going on at this restaurant. It felt like complete chaos — the staff were running around like headless chickens, clearly overwhelmed and disorganized. First, it took ages just to place our order. Then, after we had finished our meal, it took over an hour to get the bill, even after repeatedly asking for it. The servers seemed to have no idea which bill belonged to which table. When I finally got a chance to pay, the waiter entered the wrong amount in the card machine, so I had to pay twice. I didn’t want to leave a tip after all this, but the waiter added a 10% tip himself, without asking — which I made clear was not acceptable given the situation.
