An incredible hotel: stunning to look at inside & out. My bedroom was spectacular, the Art Deco bar fabulous, as was breakfast & the staff were attentive & friendly. The best hotel experience of my life. And, the 1928 restaurant on the train is an absolute must.
Iconic hotels and when booking we thought that it is more isolated and you can have a feeling of isolation from the world. However, when you step into the lobby which is beautiful indeed there are huge groups with guided tours. Kills the vibe. Spa is just a pool and is rather crowded. You can book treatments though. We had junior suite and it was very nice but the double bed is a joke, two bed moved together and if you lay in the middle you fall in between the beds. We tried internacional restaurant and it was wonderful. And also the library bar was top score. Valentina is a huge asset. She runs the show there and manages to talk to every person in the room meanwhile making delish cocktails.
Disappointed to be a 5 star hotel. The theme of course is beautiful! The old train station and the surroundings are amazing. But the hotel itself is not great. This is not 5 stars. Because it's large and beautiful is not enough. The staff has no customer service training at all, they are nice but you can see them stressed, sometimes rude, clumsy, complaining. The uniforms are cute but you can see the bad quality of the fabric. The food is really nothing impressive.. maybe their restaurant michilin which is impossible to go if you don't book with 3+ months in advance. The chef specials are surprisingly basic. About the rooms, we booked a suite but by mistake they were giving us a deluxe (they fixed it when we clarify), but since they were charging us for deluxe they mentioned the pool was 20 euros plus 2 of a swimming cap. For suite it was included, and let me tell you, I am glad we didn't pay extra for that pool. It looks cute but very under average. One thing that is amazing! The cocktails, go to La Biblioteca, it is really good. The drinks are delicious and she makes a show.
