This hotel is a great option if you are travelling to Reykjavik. The location is excellent - close to everything in the city, as well as many of the major bus stops where tour buses pick you up for excursions. The rooms were nice and spacious, with good amenities you would expect like an ironing board, bathrobes, a safe, etc. The hotel itself has a cool vibe and is nicely decorated. The staff were great. The hotel breakfast was very good. Would highly recommend!
This is a great hotel. The rooms are beautiful, the lobby is cozy, the staff is patient and kind, the parking is easy and across the street, everything was clean, great coffee in the room, and it was so quick to walk to anything we wanted. If you need quiet and black out curtains to sleep, this might not be the place for you. The curtains were in small sections that did not stay together. I recommend bringing a sleep mask. On Friday and Saturday night, there is a club across the street that is very loud. I had ear plugs and head phones, but could still hear it and the whole room vibrated until 4AM. We met others from our hotel who also didn’t sleep. The woman at the desk was very kind and supportive and tried to help us when we asked to switch rooms. I got the feeling that they really care about their guests. Sunday night we slept amazing. The room has heaters, which made it stuffy, but you can turn off the radiators on a knob on the side and open the windows for a cooler sleep.
Overall a very good hotel. Well-located right in the center of town -- tons of stuff within walking distance -- with a convenient parking garage across the street. The breakfast selection was limited but everything they had was wonderful. This was by far the best food I had in Iceland. The hotel is starting to show its age -- it opened about ten years ago -- but it's well-maintained. Everything was clean, functional, and comfortable. I love that the windows actually open to get fresh air from outside, which a rarity in modern hotels. My biggest concern was that the blackout curtains leaked a lot of light in around their edges, making it fairly bright in the room. This is a problem for a country that gets nearly 24 hours of sunlight daily in the summer. Bring an eye mask. Also, I appreciate that they are recommending everyone should drink the tap water. But the sink basins in the rooms are so shallow that they don't fit most bottles that you'd want to fill up.
