Captain`s Quarters #6

Herons landing is a fun place surrounded by both of river in the front and marina in the back. The houses are very adorable and a lot of fun to rent.

We stayed at heritage harbor Marina aboard our sailboat. The Staff is super friendly and helpful. Just can't say enough great comments about them. Ate at the red dog grill had a fantastic meal. Staff there is just as great as the marina. This is a no miss stop if you're cruising the Illinois waterway

This place looks barren and bleak. No thought to landscaping. Why anyone would live here is beyond me. Maybe being close to three amazing state parks is the draw. We went for the boat launch though and it was a good one. Dock workers were friendly and helpful. Since the span of the river between locks isn't all that long, our boat ride was fairly short. We were trying it for something different. After getting off the water, we ate at a dockside restaurant called, Red Dog Grill. The service was excellent and food superb. We plan to return when we're next in the area.
