Carlo Magno Hotel Spa Resort

Lovely hotel, great breakfast and dinner buffet options, with very good wine menu. Service was good and staff were very friendly. Nice rooms and very good spa!

The hotel has many advantages such as: location, direct access to the ski slope, ski service in the hotel, large rooms with a beautiful view and very good food. The big disadvantages are: the lack of possibility to use the pool after 4 pm for children under 12 years of age (which I consider discrimination of children) and the lack of knowledge of English by the hotel staff, including waiters and restaurant staff (the reception staff are the only ones who know English, but to a small extent).

Our 5th return trip (ski in Feb). This time during carnival week, which we would not repeat due to the slopes being too busy. Our room was the smallest we'd ever had, again probably due to carnival week. Maitre d' Paolo and his team are to be recommended for excellent service. Beatrice in particular was super. Pros: ski in-out..... but note that the return slope 54 ends in a very nasty red wall. Food is excellent. Spa is great (but the swimming pool was cold; given that only children >12 are allowed in the pool, they could turn the heating up, especially in the jacuzzis). Mini Club is well run and excellent value. Cons: the return piste 54; beautiful blue run until you reach this narrow wall just before the hotel, which catches many skiers out, and really needs improving. Many people take skis off, or avoid by walking up the road from Fortini. It's such a shame for beginner skiers to have to face it, especially as it's the only way to return to the hotel by ski. Temperature in swimming pool and Jacuzzis far too cold.
