Carlton Square Hotel

I had a room with a balcony with view of the park, and I loved it. It was a beautiful, quiet, clean and comfortable room. Location is great, and it is a beautiful 15-minute walk to train station. I like that it is not in the middle of the action where crowds are. I would definitely stay there again, and I think it is a great option for visitors in Haarlem.

Bed was very comfortable. Room thermostat worked well and ability to crack open balcony door for cooling down the room when needed was nice. Blackout curtains were nice. On our 12 day Europe trip this was the best shower I had - great water temp, pressure and adjustable shower head. A nice sized bathtub for relaxing as well. Very clean room. We had all the amenities we would have liked except a microwave. We did not try the attached restaurant during our stay but seemed popular. Very convenient location for getting on bus lines and biking and walking in the city. Felt very safe at night and during the day. Enjoyed that there was fresh water and mints in the lobby for guests. Our check in and check out process were very efficient and we always saw someone available at the desk when we walked in and out of the lobby.

We recently took a cruise out of Amsterdam. As we have been to Amsterdam before we wanted to stay in an area that was less touristy. Haarlem was perfect. A great mix of local restaurants and shopping and still just a short drive (45 minutes) to the port. The Carlton Square was a delightful hotel, clean, comfortable and convenient to shopping and restaurants.
