Carmel Taiba Exclusive Resort

I did not have a great start here at Carmel Taíba. They sent me a link for pre-checkin but for no use. When me and my family arrived we had to wait a long time to go for the rooms. At the restaurant almost no staff were present to serve. However, I want to acknowledge that after sharing our concerns with the management team, they responded promptly and resolved the issues professionally. Mistakes can happen, but what truly matters is the effort made to address and improve them, which they did. Thank you Carmel Taíba team for making our second day amazing. That being said, the hotel structure, rooms, pool, and views are absolutely stunning.

The views are breathtaking and the overall atmosphere is beautiful. The staff were friendly. Unfortunately, our stay was affected by an issue in our room: for two nights out of three, there were WORMS ALL OVER the room. At least 15 worms per night… The first night they cleaned them, but the second night, even after cleaning, they kept coming back. The first night was also a bit problematic with a very loud wedding going on. This was really unpleasant, and there was no offer of help other than more cleaning or alternative solution. Other than that, the experience was great, but this problem was a downside for us.

Overall good experience with poor management of situation As we visited the Carmel Taiba last year and had a pleasurable time, we were hoping for a similar, if not slightly improved, stay. Sadly, however, our experience on this occasion fell short. On our first night, there was a party with blaring music taking place on the property adjacent to our room, which only stopped at around 5 am. After inquiring as to whether the party would be taking place the second night, they were unsure. So we asked if it was possible to move room, they said it was, but with an upgrade fee. While we understand the party was out of the control of The Carmel, the approach to rectify our extremely poor first night was inconsistent with five-star service and did not provide “the best sensations” as described on their website. Our initial room was not on the cheap side, so there was absolutely no expectation of having to put up with a rave all night. If this was a possibility, this should have been made clear during the booking process, in which case we would have selected an alternative room or hotel. Additionally, as a five-star property, The Carmel should have done their best to ensure that the rest of our stay was as enjoyable as possible given the initial poor start. This could have been done by moving us to a quieter room after we informed them of the party. It didn’t need to be in a higher category, (but given the first night that would have been a good move anyway…). But seeming as the higher category rooms were on the other side of the property that was what was available and what should have, in our opinion, been offered at no additional cost. Given the premium price of the hotel and our enjoyable previous stay, we were extremely disappointed at the way this was handled and how The Carmel management was reluctant to take the initiative to rectify the situation.
