Carvoeiro Hotel

If this was rated as a three star hotel I would give it four stars, but very ambitiously, it is rated as a four star hotel, which it just isn’t. It was clean, the AC worked well and the staff were nice, but the breakfast was extremely average, the decor is tired and the hotel needs a major refurbishment. It’s just tired. For a short stay, fine, any longer and it would be a challenging proposition.

We’ve had a decent stay at Carveiro Hotel, however it is far, far from a 4star hotel … Rooms: +: spacious and clean. We’ve had a room with a nice garden view and a big balcony. There is also a small kitchen integrated, so we could also prepare some bites. Nice pool outside, nice garden. -: old furniture. Unfortunately it feels and smells old. The furniture has already lived its life, and needs serious restoration to be kept in a 4 stars hotel … Bathroom: while clean, they have issues with the ventilation system. Breakfast: scarce, really really scarce. It was really a disappointment. 3 types of cheese, 3 types of ham, some eggs, some sweets, some fruits, and that was all. No fresh vegetables for a salad … the producs available were good and decent quality, but in a 4 star hotel one expects great variety. If i had been vegan for example - i wouldn’t have had what to chose from. The coffee also instant coffee … Hotel staff: really nice and attentive. Nothing to complain about. Conclusion: it was decent, but for sure didn’t met our expectations, and we felt it was too expensive for what it offered.

Please read if you are planning to stay! Our experience was not good. We are currently staying at the hotel and not sure how this is considered a four star hotel. We did not have a good experience. The day we arrived at 2pm as per our booking, they said check-in is at 4pm. We traveled all the way from Lisbon early so we can make it for 2pm check-in and had to wait 2.5 hours as the room wasn’t ready. Wasted a lot of our time as we had plans which got delayed. The staff said they would try to get the room ready for 3pm, did not happen and room was ready around 4:15pm. The room we got was okay, bathroom was not cleaned well. When we came back to our room that night we noticed multiple BUGS!! They did not clean the room well even though they had 2.5 hours to clean it before our check-in at 2pm. We had to switch rooms in the middle of the night. The room we got after was a bit cleaner but their floorboard was broken. The hotel itself is old, decor to carpeting to the walls, things chipping off the wall, everything just seems old and doesn’t seem like it’s maintained well. Rooms are decent size if that’s all you care about. Only giving 1 star cause some of the staff were nice and were able to switch our room (which we shouldn’t have had to do in the first place!). Overall, not a good experience, I would not stay here again.
