Issa and Jon were great to us. Private Roof top pool. Lovely home near everything. We took a cab to dinner and ended up walking past the restaurant while exploring during the day. nothing was more than 15 minute walk. Street vendors music, restaurants were all easily accessible by foot.

It's the perfect spot for afternoon cocktails or morning coffee. Our room exceeded all expectations. The beds were incredibly comfortable - we slept like royalty every night. The thoughtful design blended colonial charm with modern amenities, creating a space that felt both luxurious and authentic to Cartagena's character. What truly sets Casa el Carretero apart is their exceptional staff. They're not just employees; they're your personal concierges, local guides, and friends rolled into one. Need a table at that impossible-to-book restaurant? Done. Laundry service? Handled within hours. They even arranged our boat trip to the Rosario Islands through their own boat service, making the entire experience seamless from start to finish. The boat trip itself was fantastic - pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and a perfectly organized day. The location in Getsemaní couldn't be better. Last night, my brother made a reservation on Hotel Tonight. My cousin and I went with him to the other side of the city to try and check-in at the hotel. The hotel representative said that he didn't have a reservation for my brother and wouldn't let him in. The taxi driver came up to try and talk with the hotel representative. I read the response to my brother's review, where the hotel says that the "four" of us were trying to have a room in the hotel. This is not the case. The taxi driver was merely trying to help us talk with the hotel representative, who denied that my brother had a reservation at all. Perhaps we were discriminated against because my brother is from The United States. Or this could be an issue with the Hotel Tonight app because it does not allow an option to designate how many guests are able to stay in a room. We thought it was a large bed and a couch from the photos. Either way, we were denied entrance and also denied a refund for the booking. The hotel has told the Hotel Tonight app that they have "photos of a group" trying to access the room, which includes the taxi. If they had just explained to us that only 2 people could be in a room, my cousin and I would have stayed and my brother would have found another hotel room. In the end, we had to find 2 rooms in a hotel that was much more expensive for us and didn't receive a refund. If this hotel wasn't purposefully trying to scam us, they would have helped us in the situation. Instead, they shut the door on us and didn't provide a refund. Buyer beware: There are many hotels in Cartagena to choose from. Find a hotel that has good service, not one that will scam you by saying you don't have a reservation and then not refunding you.
