Cascades Lakefront Motel

This is without doubt, the best motel we have stayed in that is dog friendly. We had two units for our family holiday in Taupo. The units were spacious, clean and perfect for our family with our pet dog. It was right on the lake edge, with a walkway around the lake situated in front of our units. The grandchildren loved the outdoor heated pool, spa pool and the playground. We also enjoyed relaxing in the private outdoor spa pool in the evenings. The unit was very clean, with freshly laundered blankets on the comfy beds. The carpets, flooring and drapes were all new, which made the units smell fresh and clean. The TV had Netflix for the children to watch movies. The motel was close to Taupo township, so it was handy to all the restaurants and amenities. The best part of our stay was the wonderful service we received from the owner and the staff. They were all so friendly and obliging. Nothing was a problem, and they even provided us with extra towels for the pool with no extra cost. They were incredibly helpful and courteous with anything we needed. I recommend Cascades Lakefront Motel as a great place to stay in Taupo.

Really friendly reception. We booked a family room with young children and the mezzanine was waist height to a straight drop to the first floor. Very unsafe so we couldn't really relax and mostly spent the time blocking off the stairs. Then after a very long day we bathed the kids (one bath shared) then went to have showers ourselves to find there was zero hot water left. Needed a rest and left feeling more tired.

Absolutely disgusted. We wish we had read these Google reviews before booking thru booking.com. We complained about the foul odour smell to the manager (owner) he simply ignored it and created a red herring regarding children’s ages? Your room condition and service is unacceptable. Please listen to your customers 🙏 These complaints and reviews will only get worse if you don’t take your guest seriously and ignore them intentionally. Photo of stain on bed and the manager here said it’s normal ! 🤢 he responded “we can’t make everything like new” This experience had unfortunately place a sour taste to our wonderful trip. Cascade Lakefront please be genuine in helping your guest experience, don’t be superficial in order to just clip another sale. You had given me a discount on a surcharge when I’m about to walk out the door but if I only had known the service and room needs deep cleaning I wouldn’t even bother to stay here. Rooms are out dated, dusty, smelly and needs deep cleaning. Photos of bathroom and stains on duvet. Wait 2 hours for hot water if 1 person has a bath. See Photos they don’t lie. Good luck !
