Overall not bad experience, but some things that we didn’t like. Bathroom sink was clogging all the time, when asked to fix it they suggested that we switch room, since it was just that type of sink. It was leaking afterwards as well. Junior suite lacks windows and sunlight. We were waked up every morning at 7 am with staff causing a ruckus, turning on microwave like 50 times, talking and snickering outside the room(thin walls). Service is generally ok, some of them don’t speak English at all, so just something to keep in mind.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! We should have checked the comments here! Same thing that happened to others happened to us as well: booked months in advance and have been told on the day before, there was a problem with booking.com and there was no room left. Wanted to bring us to a cheap rundown alternative. Luckily we reached booking's customer service who told us that this is not appropriate and found us a good alternative hotel instead. This is a scam!!! Lost a holiday because of them
This is not a four star hotel. Yes, the price is competitive but I wouldn’t recommend it. On arrival, we received an “upgrade” which we didn’t feel as such. We were accommodated in a junior suite on the ground floor. In this type of room all is in one space - meaning the toilet and the bathroom are not really separated by wall but with a partition. This type of room lacks nature light and there are no windows. The rooms opens to the pool which cannot be used as it looked quite dirty and not well maintained. This positioning (internal and external) contributed to a super humid room to the degree where the sheets felt moist. To add to this wonderful setting we had an issue with the toilet as the reservoir was not filling up properly every time. We requested support many times from reception which culminated with us receiving a bucket. Not romantic at all. The shower also didn’t function properly and the whole room felt run down - the sheets, the towels were heavily overused and didn’t provide any contact at all. Given this is our honeymoon trip, I can’t give a better rating since this hotel definitely led to us enjoying so much less our time in Merida.
