Castello di Petroia is a beautifully restored medieval castle-fortress perched high in the mountains not far from the exceptional township of Gubbio. The rooms our group of 4 occupied were beautiful, spacious and comfortable, with large comfortable beds and huge bathrooms, and spectacular views from sparkling clean windows. The surrounding gardens were lovely and the entire castle was beautifully maintained. Breakfasts were exceptional as was our meals the two nights we stayed. The staff were very polite, friendly and efficient. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so memorable. We didn't want to leave.
We love Petroia! This was our 4th trip to Italy to stay there. It’s so peaceful. The restaurant is the best. Paolo, the maitre d’ is the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time)! Numerous castle kitties available if you need some kitty time.
Beautiful castle bursting with history and panoramic views. It is very dramatic and romantic. The tower room is an experience, lucky we had it only for 1 night, as more than that may have turned an experience into a challenge. The dinner is excellent, but the aperitivo is a bit pricey for a rural affair - 8€ for a small plate of cheese and tomatoes and 10€ for a spritz!
