The rooms are average- nothing special, but the bathrooms are massive and modern. The cleaners did a good job when they came. The location is great, right on the harbour front and only a 10-minute walk to a sandy beach, with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The buffet was good; we stayed for 4 nights and had different things to eat each night. Drinks were reasonably priced. Overall, it’s an average hotel — nothing special, but nothing bad at all.

We recently stayed at Catalonia del Mar, a hotel located in a quiet, picturesque spot right on the harbour—a lovely setting for a relaxing break. The hotel is advertised as a 4-star, but in reality, it feels more like a 3-star—and that’s being generous in some areas. That said, for the reasonable price we paid, we were overall happy with our stay. The rooms are basic but functional. Our bed was clean and comfortable, and we appreciated that the safe and air conditioning were free of charge. The shower was powerful and reliable, which was a plus. However, housekeeping left a lot to be desired, and the staff could be very noisy in the mornings, which made sleeping in difficult. We booked on a half-board basis. Breakfast was enjoyed daily, and we had one evening meal during our stay. There was plenty of decent food to choose from, although the menu didn’t vary much, so you’d have to be okay with repetitive options. The pool is quite small, and while the sunbeds were a bit grubby, we always managed to find one. What really stood out was the lovely bar staff, and in fact, all the staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming, which made a positive impact on our stay. One downside was that we had to get our key cards reset three times during the week—frustrating, especially when you’re staying on the top floor. If you’re looking for a simple, no-frills hotel in a peaceful location with friendly service, Catalonia del Mar offers good value for money. Just don’t expect luxury, and bring a bit of patience when it comes to the small inconveniences.

Catalonia del Mar – A Mixed Bag in a Lovely Spot Great location right on the harbour in a peaceful part of town. It’s sold as a 4-star, but feels more like a 3. Rooms are basic but comfy, with good air con, a safe, and a solid shower. Housekeeping? Loud and a bit slack. Food was fine – breakfast daily and one dinner. Plenty of choice, but gets repetitive fast. Pool’s small, sunbeds are grubby, but we always found one. Bar staff were lovely, and the rest of the team were friendly too. Key cards kept failing (three times in a week – not ideal on the top floor). Still, for what we paid, we left happy enough. Good value if you’re not expecting luxury.
