We had a fabulous time in a lovely hotel, staffed by very good, helpful, friendly staff. Rooms would have got 5 stars if they had been a little bigger. Food was so good we mostly ate in the restaurant.
This hotel was a lovely surprise. It’s a very attractively designed and decorated hotel with friendly and efficient staff. It seems to be run by people who really care about customer service. I especially liked the pool area. This wasn’t taken over by people putting towels on sun loungers at 6 a.m. in the morning. The guests were far too polite and reasonable to do that. (There was a good mix of nationalities and I think this helped with this.) It’s a ten minute walk to the centre of town (i.e. around the Fish Market.). I’ve stayed in Mahon previously and felt this hotel was a bit further than my previous choice to the restaurants in the port area. However, I would certainly choose this over the other because of the poolside behaviour. I got a taxi to the port one evening - it was a bit too hot to walk - so could still enjoy that area. I even managed to use the gym a couple of times! I may well stay here again.
Really disappointing. Clearly the system says no and the staff aren’t empowered. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded, but to a room with two twin beds, not ideal for a honeymoon! There was then a sign saying you can’t drink the water, so when we returned from a night out during a heatwave, we were told we would be charged for additional water! Also, the pool was closed at 7pm… not great during such high temperatures
