Simply stunning! A great stay! The views are a delight and winery fields beautiful. The suite perfect and location within the complex was wonderful. The winery tour and evening dinner included was delicious. Views from the restaurant terrace breathtaking. Breakfast was delicious and all the staff very helpful!! special mention to Viviana and Reception staff who provided us with breakfast bags in readiness for our 5:30am departure ! Classy touch and much appreciated. Stunning place to relax and unwind with that special someone. Will be back !
We stay at Cavanera each time we come to Sicily - it is the hidden jewel of Etna. The combination of beautiful accommodation, a pool with wine bar, and an exceptional restaurant all come together for an unforgettable experience every time. The wine tasting is both delicious and expertly facilitated by Roberto, check in with a mini bottle of wine for free in each room is lovely, and the staff do everything they can to make the experience special, including late check out, towels available for the pool and nice bathroom products. Firriato has invested a lot into this property and experience, and we were told new onsite experiences will be available next year including a dedicated yoga space and likely a spa experience. They deserve the review and all the success, but we hope it continues to feel like a hidden jewel into the future.
The location is nice, close to many points of interest and the scenery is pleasant. The place gives you an impression of something higher level, especially given the price but I don’t think it quite reaches what it pretends to be. The rooms are nicely decorated and rustic, but we had issues with the electricity which were a little disconcerting. Lack of power meant we couldn’t use the plugs properly and the lights would constantly flash. The pool is a great place to relax but the bar staff attended to every other person in the area except us. The bar’s food offering was disappointing and we didn’t expect to pay a cover charge for bar food and warm water. The restaurant is in a spectacular setting. However, we wanted advice on wine to pair with our food, we were told the sommelier would come, he never did. The food was pleasant but less elaborated than before according to our party who had visited a couple years ago. This has the potential to be really special but seems to miss the mark on a number of areas that would justify the high price tag.
