I had the pleasure of staying at CBD Hotel in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, for 14 days, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. The hotel itself is quite good, but what stood out the most was the breakfast – it’s truly exceptional! They offer a vast range of delicious options that left me impressed every morning. The service was top-notch, with the staff being incredibly responsive to any request, and I was especially impressed by how efficient everything was with just one call. The bellboy deserves a special mention for being so friendly and helpful, always with a smile. The General Manager, Mr. Sushil, is incredibly kind and supportive, making sure everything was running smoothly during my stay. His personal touch added to the overall warm atmosphere of the hotel. If I had to mention one area for improvement, it would be the street food offerings. Unfortunately, the taste of dishes like Pani-Puri and Pav Bhaji, which are typically enjoyed as authentic street foods, didn’t quite hit the mark. That said, everything else was more than satisfactory. I would definitely recommend CBD Hotel for a pleasant stay in Dar-es-Salaam!

Highly recommended; the staff is first-class. They are very nice, friendly, and helpful. I wish the tables had been a bit cleaner at breakfast. There were crumbs under the placemats, and one morning the table was a bit sticky. The hotel's value for money – there are minor things everywhere that need to be fixed (the silicone seals in the shower are dirty, the closet doors are loose and extremely crooked, etc.). These are all minor things that can be overlooked, and everything is fine. However, the hotel's prices are very "European," so I would like to see the quality match the price. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. The large roof terrace looks very poor and is broken (there are no functioning railings, seating, or other uses). There is a small roof terrace, which is very good. I also had a massage. The massage was very good as a wellness massage, 5* (not as a medical massage, which would only be 3*). I can recommend it and would use it again anytime.

I do not consider this a 4 star hotel especially for the price. The downstairs lobby is nice but the upstairs and room are in need of remodeling. The room, sheets and blankets have a musty odor. The staff were very responsive and changed the sheets quickly, which was slightly better but still smelled musty. We were given one roll of toilet paper. The shower does not drain. Within a few minutes of being in the shower, my feet were under water. A hotel driver was arranged by our travel company to pick us up from the ferry. He asked a porter from inside to get us and our bags since he can’t physically go in. Having someone help us get our bags was appreciated due to the chaos. However, there were 2 porters used which we didn’t need (we had one small bag and one large) then they proceeded to aggressively demand 30,000 shillings each even though we didn’t request even one porter. The driver didn’t help us even though he was right there and we speak a little Swahili. We heard the porters tell the driver to not get involved. The driver told us on the way that he always asks the porters to help and didn’t know they were charging clients that much money and we should have asked the driver for help. It was a very unpleasant experience especially as two female travelers.
