Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Resort

Very good stay. Rooms were clean. Despite so much greenery, we were surprised there were almost no mosquitoes. Gym equipment looks a bit rusty but functional. Breakfast spread could be better for vegetarians- not much choice.

Great stay at the Centara Resort on Koh Chang island. Sunsets here are amazing. The Centara is located about 250 meters off of the main road.....a good thing. This keeps most noise generated by the main road , at a minimum. Check-in was seamless and easy. The front desk was welcoming and friendly.. Centara is set in a very tropical setting. Palms, orchids , and plumeria are all landscaped into a beautiful park like setting with small fish -populated canals running throughout the grounds. The rooms, { I rented 3 different cabana types) were all comfortable but in need of some updating and refreshing . The AC, TV, and WiFi all worked well. Showers were great, too. ●●● BE aware...mosquitos can be an issue at all of the resorts on Koh Chang. Centara is no exception. ●●● Breakfast was decent, and all breskfast staff was super friendly and helpful. . There were both Asian and Western breakfast foods available. The pool was great. There are 2 pools on site, I only used the pool close to the beach. There were plenty of sunbeds available. The beach is just steps from the pool . Easy beach access at several points from the pool area. ●● Be aware that sandflies can be a real nuisance close to the beach on Koh Chang ●● The atmosphere at Centara is a relaxed and chilled out vibe. Do not stay here!! Worst service ever and definitely waste of money. Location is okay but the private beach is not beautiful as in the advertisement. The hotel is huge and we got the Premium Deluxe Cabana room which is pretty expensive but the room is very far from lobby or the parking. There is no transportation service either. You have to walk under the sun for 10 min. From the parking lot. There are not enough lights in the night and can’t see the side walk. You have to be extra careful not to slip or step in the paddle in rainy season. Breakfasts tastes okay but not delicious and staffs likes to take dishes away even if you are still eating. I left the silverware as showing that I’m still eating but when I come back from getting some drinks then my dishes are gone and seat other customers. I had to get back in the long line again to get the meals again. The worst part is the room and service. The room is big and bed is comfortable but AC is way too cold and cannot adjust the temp. with analog dial remote control. The door to the bathroom cannot be shut. It’s old and looks like they never maintain. We are very shocked how they left the room after the cleaning. Glass and coffee cups are not changed or cleaned. They don’t clean the bathtub and floors. Bathrobe and towels as left on the floor as is. I called the front desk to get a new cups but they never answer the phone. Had to call 4 times. You can stay more comfortable and get better services with less than quarter price in other hotels. Once again, do not expect what you pay for at this hotel. Absolutely never come back here again.
