We had a pleasant stay. The activities were varied and fun, and we were able to find plenty of things to do, as well as plenty of peace and quiet when we wanted it, in our bungalow. The restaurant is expensive, but everything is so well thought out that it's quickly forgotten! We recommend it!
We had a lovely experience overall at Centerparcs Het Meerdal. The location is excellent and the range of activities was superb, whether free or paying. The range of playgrounds was excellent, especially with a toddler in tow, and there were enough activities to keep everyone entertained. We did not try all of the restaurants on site, partly due to limited opening hours, however the Grand Cafe and Frites Affairs were excellent options, if slightly pricey for the former. We enjoyed the Aqua Mundo and the slides/pools were fun. Toddler loved the rapids! There are life jackets available on site for those who aren't confident swimmers, which was good. Staff were friendly and helpful, and laidback, which was appreciated. Our cottage was good, if slightly simplistic, but this was enough for what we needed. However, we did experience issues with ants inside and these needed to be cleared daily. We could not find the source of this problem unfortunately. We also suffered from insect (presumably) bites which detracted from our enjoyment somewhat. We had also hired a car from Eindhoven Airport, at a reasonable price, which enabled us to visit nearby areas, such as Horst. We particularly enjoyed Mind Mystery. Overall, we would consider another holiday here, as our experience was mostly positive and we all had fun.
Overall we really enjoyed our week at Het Meerdal centre parcs. However, we probably wouldn’t visit again. The positives were the amazing swimming pool, tranquil location and proximity to some great theme parks. We also loved the range of activities on offer. We did the go-karts, mini golf and bowling. The negatives were the basic accommodation which was supposed to have ‘high speed internet’. The internet didn’t work at all in the first night (a Saturday). Reception was closed or unavailable until the Monday. They did then send someone round quickly to reset the wi-fi. But it still plodded along. Not a game changer, but annoying! We also had no food cupboard space, but our friends next door had a big food storage cupboard even though they paid the same price as us. The other big annoyance was the costs on top of what you already pay in the restaurants. I know this is centre parcs- but making you pay for water and refusing tap water is disgusting. The price of a Wetherspoons quality meal for 4 people was around £100! They also charge extra for sauces but don’t mention it when taking orders. The activities were generally fine for the money, however, bowling was timed and after the hour it stopped even though we were mid-game and had paid 30 euros. Het Meerdal is right near some amazing attractions though. I would highly recommend Irrland in Germany. It was incredible and great value if you have young kids (mine are 5 and 8). Efteling is a must too. We also spent a lot of happy hours in the aqua mundo- my kids loved the rapids. Farm and forest area were also great. Very friendly staff.
