This apartment is really lovely, very spacious, well presented, and stocked with everything you need for your stay. Paulo is very helpful, sending all directions and photos to make finding apartment very easy, and will help if you need anything, though you have a booklet explaining everything when you arrive. Plenty of storage space for all your clothes, huge bathroom and the absolute plus is the shower. I have to give him 20 out of 10 for that shower. The only thing I would say if you are not going to hire a car you may find this a struggle if your not great on your legs or struggle with your breathing as there are lots of hilly streets and steps to get from the Old Town Square, my calves can confirm this 😁. The pool area is lovely and well kept, the indoor pool, sauna and steam room is located in the hotel section across the road and there is also a bar and restaurant there too. I would recommend this apartment and would return ourselves.
This accomodation didn’t work for us (Cerro Mar Atlantico apartments). Right from the start things didn’t go well. The reception area to check-in/check-out is not in Cerro Mar Atlantico accomodation and this was neither informed to us by the hotel nor by the website we used to book the hotel. The accomodation is at a height from the main building (Cerro Mar Garden) so one has to do constant up and down between the two buildings which is very inconvenient. To make things worse, there is no plug point or usb near the bed or near the sofa living area making the accomodation impractical in today’s day and age. No tea/coffee is provided in the kitchen and there are no mugs. There was no dish cleaning liquid as well. So come prepared to buy these basics from nearby markets in order to get settled. The shower temperature was lukewarm and not hot. Pressure was fine. The town centre and beach are a very steep downhill walk so it’s quite tiring when coming back up unless you have a car or pay for taxi. There is a hotel shuttle to take you down and bring you back up but unfortunately the frequency is low and doesn’t operate early morning or late evenings/night. I also felt that the staff lacked empathy and didn’t really value their customer’s issues. On the positive side, the room was clean and it was easy to get taxi from the location.
On a friend's recommendation we booked a 2 night stay at Cerro Mar Atlantico in July 2025. At check-in, we did request to have a one bedroom unit that was not ground floor as my daughter has some respiratory issues. The young lady at reception essentially ignored this request and placed us in a ground floor unit in an older building in the resort that has no pool. The room was extremely outdated with furnishing circa 1980. Pullout sofa bed is a trundle so be prepared that you are sleeping at floor level and the sofa above it is very uncomfortable to sit on. We made several requests to move rooms and they offered us one other unit (also ground floor) in a noisy area. They told us the resort was full but it was clear that many rooms that would have better met our needs were vacant. It was evident in our numerous encounters with hotel staff that they are really indifferent to guest concerns and requests. Lots of young travellers (at least in the summer months) at this resort so be prepared to be woken in the middle of the night when they return from the bars in old town. Kids just being kids having fun though. WIFI was a huge issue as it cuts in and out and is not secure so many websites will not load. Could not even load Expedia to make changes to another travel itinerary we had. Unless walking distance to Old Town Albufeira is a must, I recommend choosing another suites property like The Patio Suites or a private rental. Considering we paid approx. $500/night CAD or 320 EU I would have expected both a better quality of room and service. If you are paying anywhere near that, prepare to be disappointed.
