Absolutely Wonderful Stay! I had an amazing experience at CG Kensington. The location was perfect, right in the heart of the city and close to everything I needed. The rooms were clean, stylish, and very comfortable. The service was outstanding — the staff went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this place whether you're here for business or vacation. Definitely coming back!
The location of this hotel is great. Very close to high street Kensington station on the underground. However, there was no air conditioning and we were told that it was broken even though there were thermostats and vents in our room. We went in the middle of a heat wave with temps in the 80’s and 90’s and it was extremely uncomfortable. We had to have a window open 24/7 to have a slight relief, but room temps were still in the high 70’s and sometimes 80’s. Even at night. Other than this, the rooms are quite comfortable and have a bed, desk, and bathroom with a sliding door. There is also a mini fridge and microwave. Not much room for much else. The service was great, extremely friendly staff. It is important to note that the lobby does close at night and no staff will be there, so if there is an issue with your key, they give a number to call for help. Also, the entrance is unmarked in the middle of a neighborhood. When we first arrived, we were extremely confused, but you must ring the doorbell to be helped.
We stayed at this hotel for the second time because our first visit was excellent. The location is fantastic—very close to the tube, shops, and major attractions, which was a big plus. Unfortunately, this second experience was disappointing. During one of the hottest weeks in June, the air conditioning in our room wasn’t working. The temperature inside was 32°C, and it was genuinely unbearable—cooler outside than inside the room. We couldn’t open the windows, which made it even worse. We spoke to the receptionist, who was kind and apologetic, and said they were working on it and would update us. However, when we returned later, there was just a note in our room saying the A/C wouldn’t be fixed and that the room listing didn’t mention air conditioning, so we shouldn’t have expected it. That felt misleading, especially since during our first stay the A/C worked fine. I double-checked the listing on Booking.com and saw that air conditioning is listed, so it felt like they removed it after the fact just to avoid dealing with complaints or offering compensation. Sadly, this experience changed our opinion of the hotel. As much as we loved our first stay, we won’t be returning.
