Excellent hotel! Very clean, the breakfast buffet is delicious (with an omelette bar!), and the staff are very kind and accommodating. I asked to be moved to a different room (didn’t want to face the street) and they moved me right away. Thank you for a great stay!
The lobby and entrance way is very well kept but the rooms are dated with very uncomfortable beds. My room had a window looking into the corridor which was very bizarre. For one night it does the trick but not sure how I would fare for longer here.
I stayed couple of days back in July 2025, in this hotel Chalcedony in Hanoi Vietnam. Overall rooms were good but the service that I got when I first arrived in this hotel was atrocious to say the least. There were 2 females at the reception. Especially female by the name "Buy thou hyuthen" was really depressing for the continuous denial of basic service to be provided. We enquired for money exchange counters nearby as they were providing really low conversion rates. When other female was trying to help us she instructed her also not to provide any info on the same. She did not even provided us with drinking water as we all were really tired after early morning flight. On top of it she was unflinching in terms of not providing us with early check in by couple of hours. Do understand that they have a policy of 2 pm check in but when you have some vacant rooms/check out happening at 12 pm. They should have accomodated us but she continuously denied us even after repeated request. Concern here she was ready to offer us rooms with early check in by paying additional money which clearly implied they had rooms available. They could easily have accomodated us with 1 or 2 hrs early check in but she ensured we suffered sitting there in lobby, tired and fatigued our entire family. We had no option but to wait for our cab which came at 1:15 pm to our rescue. We went for day outing without doing our daily chores and then came back in evening to hotel. Just to quote, same thing happened in Da Nang hotel also but reception troupe handled it very well, deserving accolades. Seeing our condition, they offered us lemonade drink and also early check in. This is what I call unspoken exceptional service called delighters, which definitely was missing here. Hotel/service industry needs to earn the respect and loyalty of customers. Just putting up physical structures and providing amenities with no personal empathy is definitely a recipe for disaster. In a nut shell would like to say that I had definitely the best of times with my family in Vietnam only just for this blemish at this place. Female receptionist mentioned above definitely needs customer handling skills and empathy training. Don't know whether feedback will reach to the right persons for taking corrective actions. Any ways I consider it obligatory on my part to share it for their continuous improvement.
