Chalet Hotel Le Whymper

Perfectly located and well-priced hotel with excellent breakfast. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. Stayed in the room right next to common space/breakfast area and there was no noise. The check-in is done at the desk of the hotel across the road, and all staff members I interacted with were friendly and helpful. One staff member was ready to let me access my room an hour early as the room was ready, but their colleague said I would have the pay the early check in supplement if I wanted, which was a bit harsh but I didn’t need the room so I told them I would wait.

Very nice staff, who communicated excellently in English. The room on the top floor was great for one night. Clean, neat and generally of a good standard. Central location with a parking garage nearby, which was great. The breakfast had a nice selection and a nice atmosphere. On nice days you can use the terrace.

The location is great and near the main area to walk around, eat, shop etc. The room itself was on the 3rd floor and tight for 4 people. It was VERY HOT! Even with the windows open we were miserable. The breakfast was included and ok (skip the eggs). I did like that they provided games to play in the salon which we did twice and a nice break in the day. It's noted on the site but know there is no elevator. We did use the sauna which is nice but plan ahead because it takes 30 mins to heat up. Also, I added a celebration package which included balloons, macaroons and prosecco. It was overall nice to add but we received a chocolate cake instead of macaroons and the cake was dry so we only ate a quarter of it. The ice for our prosecco melted to it wasn't very cold when we checked in. I would say if you're on a budget and don't mind the heat (during summer) this place was fine. But for a family with kids I wish we had booked elsewhere.
