A good hotel in a good location. Good breakfast, excellent Chinese restaurant. M club could do with a wider variety of food and more flexible hours. Room service hours need to be extended for sure. Accessing rooms via their lift is also a bit odd, should be simplified. More English speaking staff please!
Special thanks goes to Sherry of Zhuhai Mariott Hotel. Her attitude towards work is exemplary and is highly appreciated.
Breakfast is good, wide selection of asian and western treat. The custom noodle breakfast bar is nice too. M club happy hour is great aswell (who doesn't love free booze?) and the gym and pool nice too. Room service menu is pretty average. However, my room was on level 21 (1 level below the main hotel restaurant the Zhuhai Kitchen) and I could hear when furniture and objects were being dragged around early in the morning from my room. My colleagues were on different floors and didn't have this issue lucky for them. I also had a very poor experience with service on my last night. My booking was via the company that employs me. Originally I had 6 nights booked and on the 5th day I requested (via my company travel agent) to extend the booking 1 more day. The marriot concierge confirmed the booking on the same day. On my last night I went to pay for my stay so I could leave early in the morning (I.e. went to pay earlier than I needed to, to make it more convenient for me and the hotel). It seems the hostess only charged me for the original 6 nights, neither of us noticed. I went to bed unbeknownst. I was rudely awoken at 130 in the morning by senior staff insisting I have to pay an additional deposit as I hadn't paid for an additional night. You would think that a 5 star hotel that frequently has business travellers would realise if they have a confirmation for an extra night from a guest that may not have paid for the extra night, they can clearly afford it and any payment discrepancies can wait until the morning. This really soured my experience here. Apart from this experience (and the noise) it was a nice hotel.
