This remains my favourite hotel in the world, and I have stayed in many fabulous places over the years! We originally got engaged here so love to return over the decades, making a detour to stop off when we drive through France. We always enjoy the faded glory of the old castle hotel, the ruins & countryside outside, the incredible staff, the tennis court & swimming pool, the champagne and any newer developments like the spa, refurbished rooms etc. This year our whole family was in one older family room booked thru Expedia - hugest bathroom ever and very spacious - but underloved and needs an interior design face lift. We stayed for dinner & breakfast and it was all a wonderful experience. Thank you Chateau de Fere x
Beautiful old hotel with a friendly staff. Especially the bathroom in our room was so beautiful. They served a delicious dinner and the scenery is serene. We especially loved getting to know Amadine in the reception who was so warm and caring, and helped us out with great information! The spa is closed, and we were not informed about this in advance - which was a disappointment. So on rainy days there was not a lot to do. We wished the staff would organize an activity like wine tasting, a tour or even a movie night? No shuttle service to/from the village nearby, so we had to use taxi services.
No no no… how can you do your job so bad when you have a castle with a ruin like that. The property is fantastic in a gorgeous landscape but the management destroy it with a lot of efforts. The kitchen was closed. They served us a charcuterie plate without bred and fork The ordered wine was not available only a more expensive one The breakfast was served outside. But we had to clean the dishes first. So to avoid salmonella we didn’t order an egg…. So sad Don’t come here if you like to stay in a hotel
