Chateau De Rilly

Impeccably kept chateau, independently run. Rooms have good sound isolation - we had a room with a family and kids next door and we couldn't hear them. Thoughtful amenities and excellent bed. The restaurant was also a really great experience and very convenient. Breakfast in the morning was service only but very copious. The bar is quiet and cosy. A great find!

Felt glamorous with a glass of champagne in my hand! We stumbled into this beautiful hotel while visiting the Champagne region and had some fun drinking a glass of local champagne (as day drinking usually is). The little chateau was very charming and welcoming, the service was as expected, very attentive and professional. We enjoyed our time here sitting on the deck behind the hotel hidden under sunbrellas (however it was still hot as the marble floor reflected all the heat and there was no breeze whatsoever) and would come back if we ever passed by the region again. Lady at the reception was very helpful and gave us some recommendations on what is worth visiting around. Parking was not a problem as well as paying our bill with a credit card. All that said, we were unable to eat as the kitchen was closed at 2:30 PM on Sunday afternoon. We also had to use the side entrance to enter the deck which felt a bit odd to me (maybe just my feeling). The reception was representative and beautifully decorated, with nice furniture and flowers, however it did not smell good. It was either the close proximity to the kitchen or very smelly (fish smell like) lunch that day. Simply the sight did not match the smell, but I believe this might have been an extraordinary situation. Very pleasant stop during our time in the Champagne region! Visited in May 2022.

The hotel was perfect, the rooms were lovely and the front reception staff such as Margaux were great. It was the food and restaurant staff that let the hotel down. We had a party of 9 and all agreed the food wasn't worth the €70 at all. We had the 4 course menu and the ingredients did not go together & the portion sizes were ridiculous. The fact that the wait staff were rude didn't help, my friend had to ask 3 times for a drink and she kept ignoring him. It was the final night of a week long 2000 mile journey we were on and the restaurant experience really killed our mood and excitement.
