Chateau Loucen Garden Retreat

Lovely place. Got married here in 2004. Went back in Summer 2018 with our eldest son.

The service is perfect, the dinner and breakfast are on a high level, the saunas and the mini pool are nice. The park is very successful. Average room.

Tricky to give a fair review. We stayed in the Valdstein apartment in the castle itself. There are three apartments in the castle, but Valdstein is the only one with windows in three directions, as it is at the end of the wing. The rooms have great atmosphere, and feel very special. The only room that's redone is the bathroom, and that's very comfortable. Unfortunately, one of the windows was broken (see picture) and two others had holes in them. This didn't mean that wind came in, as there are double windows, but it looks shabby. Problem could be solved easily if they installed a way to fasten the inner windows open. Second problem was that the room was not cleaned all day, even though we reminded them. That'd be ok in a a cheap hotel, but not when you pay this much. Also, when you charge this much for accomodation, don't charge extra for the coffee pods in the room; just bake that into the price. Check-in is at hotel reception, to the right of the castle entrance. Some staff were good, others a little confused. Pool and sauna not luxurious, but relaxing. Restaurant not up to much, which is a shame. In short, staying in the castle is luxurious, but it's difficult to keep up that feeling when things around don't work very well.
