Checkin Djerba Bakour Beach All Inclusive

My husband and I were here last july, and this hotel looks like palace from Aladdin cartoon! The rooms are huge and phenomenal! We had half-pension, breakfast and dinner, breakfast was always good and dinner was outstanding, I tried so many new dishes. The most used languages in this hotel are arabic and french, they speak also german, and english not so much. Beach is gorgeous and water is azzure! Perfect hotel if you really want to rest your head and body. Sometimes it felt like a ghost hotel how peaceful it is.

We stayed at Hasdrubal Prestige Djerba 10 years ago and had an absolutely marvellous experience, everything was perfect, and we left with such fond memories that we couldn’t wait to return. Unfortunately, this recent visit was the complete opposite and left us extremely disappointed. From the moment we arrived, the service was shockingly poor. There were no towels or slippers in the room. We called several times to request them, only to be told “coming” — they tried justifying by saying they were too busy with breakfast to attend to room service basic guest needs. The room had no kettle, no coffee, no tea, no sugar, and not even a bottle of water on arrival. After insisting, we finally received some, but on the second day, there was again no water. When we called, the response was unbelievable: “Water is only provided on the first day, after that you can buy it.” To make matters worse, coffee and sugar continued to not be replenished during our stay: we had to keep asking, and still didn’t always get them. For a so-called 5-star resort, this is unacceptable. Breakfast was another disappointment. We requested an ashtray from a waiter, and instead of bringing one, he simply pointed to an empty table and told us to get it ourselves. Seeing our shocked reaction, he went even further, saying outright: “I’m not bringing anything.” Such behaviour is appalling and completely unprofessional. The beach, which should be one of the highlights of a Djerba resort, was the worst we have seen on the island; dirty, poorly maintained, and completely neglected. It is shameful for a hotel of this category to offer such a substandard beach experience. The building itself is magnificent and the property is huge, but the maintenance is absolutely neglected: it feels like it’s been left to deteriorate over the years. We came back expecting the warm hospitality and top-quality service we remembered, but instead, we found poor management, lack of basic amenities, a dirty beach, and an overall careless, even rude, attitude towards guests. This was not just disappointing.. it was heartbreaking.

I don’t recommend this hotel for young people or Muslims. It is mainly oriented towards non-Muslim elderly tourists and is not kid-friendly. Food is low cost and not good, far away from being 5stars. From the moment my husband and I, a young couple, arrived, we were met with unnecessary complications. They almost refused to let us check in because our IDs were not renewed. even though the hotel was full of elderly foreign guests who were clearly not married. It’s hard to believe they required a marriage certificate from them as they did with us, which felt discriminatory. After resolving the issue, we checked into our suite, but the hotel continued to show it is not Muslim-friendly. The bathroom didn’t have a hand-held bidet (shattaf), and there was no indication of the qibla direction for prayer. We tried to have dinner at the restaurant dressed respectfully and elegantly, but the staff did not approve of our appearance and refused to seat us inside. They wanted us to eat outside on the terrace instead. Inside the restaurant, only elderly white guests were allowed. We even saw another Muslim family also forced to eat outside for similar reasons. The outdoor area was overcrowded, extremely noisy, and nothing like what you'd expect from a 5-star hotel — there was a man singing loudly and creating a chaotic atmosphere. Additionally, there was no gym or play area for children. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and definitely not worth it for young couples or Muslim travelers.
