Chiangmai Highlands Golf and Spa Resort

Took a day trip to play 18 holes and it was an excellent experience - Course was stunning with several scenic holes - Greens were very slow - Practice facilities were good - Hired a full set of M6 Regular Flex clubs for 1,500 Baht - My caddie was so sweet and helpful! My one tip is BOOK A RETURN GRAB! We got stuck after the round and had to pay 1300 Baht for a taxi! (Alternatively book their transfer service) Well worth your time for a golfing day out!

Technically I give it a 4.9, I'll explain the .1 taken off in a minute. The course is fantastic. Beautifully maintained, visually stunning and VERY challenging. It's got three, nine hole courses and I believe you can play them all in one day if that suits you--we were wiped out after the driving range and 18 so what was a no go. I swear there is more sand at that place than on Hua Hin beach! Hehe. And the bunkers are very deep so work on your sand wedge before coming to play because you'll NEED IT! Someone below mentioned that the greens were slow..., HA! Quite the opposite, it's like putting on a pool table. The caddies are great and super friendly/knowledgeable. If you need/want gear, the pro shop there is fantastic but a bit pricy. I'll mention the .1 thing: if you want to have a couple of cold ones at the end of the round, please be aware that the club house restaurant charges about twice what a downtown bar would charge and three times the amount you'll pay at the grocery store 7/11. Beers out on the course at the various little stop shops will run you 80 thb for a small Singha and slightly less for the others they offer, and you can't take glass on the course so cans only please. But other than that minor thing, Highlands is fantastic and if you are lucky enough to be a resident here, they only charge 1400 thb on Tuesdays and that includes green fee, caddy, cart, and a meal--food is all local Thai favorites and it is very tasty. Can't comment on the lodging since I live here in Chiang Mai but from the outside it looks great and if it's anything like the club house it's likely amazing. So, if you are a golfer and want a fantastic experience on a course that is on par (pun intended) with any PGA course, Highlands is for you! We will be back.

1-hour drive from city centre, this is an award-winning golf resort. Green was difficult to read, and condition of fairways were good. We played B & C courses on 02 March 2025 in the morning. There was a hole-in one prize on B-5 par-3. None of us has the luck though. An eventful round. One flight mate hit a wayward ball into a nearby house, and the signboard indicated fine of 450 baht to be paid at the reception.
