Chimelong Penguin Hotel

This is truly a family-friendly hotel, perfect for children. One of the highlights is the presence of real penguins in the restaurant, which was a delightful surprise. However, the room had a lingering smell of cigarette smoke. Communication can be a bit challenging as the staff do not speak English, so we had to rely on a translation app. Despite the language barrier, the staff were always friendly, smiling, and eager to assist.

Super long check-in experience at the penguin, therefore only two stars since it's really a waste of everyone's time. We waited in line for over one hour for early check-in at noon since we were told we could just "walk to the counter and get our keys at 3pm". The check in process itself was another 20 minutes itself. Had lunch, then at 2:45pm we got back into another line and had to wait another 30 minutes to get our keys. Otherwise the room is fine. Our room had a view of the fireworks at night. The buffet food is average. There are activities for kids but they cost money. I would recommend to go to the Hengqin bay. Also a long check-in, but only about 30 minutes in our experience vs the ~2 hours at the penguin. Less stuff for kids to do but there is a nice pool (which costs money but might be included in your package). The hotel is much newer. The buffet was better, they even brought us glasses of wine.
