We originally booked a 2 night stay at the marina but loved it so much that we ended up staying for a couple of weeks. The staff was wonderful, the pool was lovely the beach was breathtaking. We were looking forward to returning again this year but unfortunately they are accepting members only as of Jan 2025. I am so happy we were able to experience this Island while we had the chance.
Stayed on a boat in the marina, so I can not rate the rooms. Marina is beautiful. Staff is very friendly. The store is very convenient but limited on supplies, as you may expect. If you're there on a Wednesday, be sure you get some fresh homemade cookies at the store. Saw many turtles swimming in the marina and a bull shark.😳 Great food at the restaurant and a very nice staff. The pool is amazing, as is the view from it. The pool has a swim up/sit down bar, as well as a dry side with stools. Bruce was a fantastic bartender. He has quite a singing voice as well. Would recommend a stay here.
During my most recent visit, I found that Chub Cay no longer rents slips to non-members. We anchored offshore as a result, but when we brought our dinghy to the fuel dock, an older, grumpy man—who seemed to work for the marina—warned us that anchoring in the area was prohibited since it’s now a protected zone. He claimed the police would seize our boat if they saw it. He also mentioned they would not sell us fuel if we stayed. We left, didn’t tie up or get fuel for the dingy. I don’t believe what he said was accurate, I just took it as you’re not welcome here. We stayed anchored overnight without any issues and left in the morning. This experience contrasts sharply with how things used to be. About 15 years ago, I arrived with a smaller, older boat during a hurricane, and Chub Cay allowed me to tie up in the marina, for free. They even provided a room at no cost and included us in their safety meetings as the storm approached. Unfortunately, things have changed. I live in California and don’t visit frequently enough to justify a membership, but Chub Cay used to be a great spot to stop for the night. It seems they’ve grown wary of visitors, possibly due to past issues with people taking advantage of their resources. I’ll miss the old Chub Cay.
