Beautiful location, we had a large, impressive and historic room with great space and large bathroom. The location is great - wonderful views and it' very easy to walk into the centre where there is a good choice of bars and restaurants. Free parking was a good bonus too. However, this is very much a "low service" hotel - friendly and helpful staff but feels more like a B&B than hotel. Limited reception hours, small choice at breakfast (this did improve on our second day) and limited room facilities (e.g. there is a coffee maker but not kettle and no milk provided). our room was not serviced (we had a two-day stay) which was disappointing. Overall I'd say great place for a one-night stopover for the rooms and view but not for a longer holiday.

We we're normally traveling from Belgium to London for our 8 years wedding anniversary. But due unfortunately circumstances and therefore passport issues (we booked Le shuttle, vehicle train and it was validated with only our ID's) We weren't aware of the need to have a travel passport as well with us. As we had driven more than two hours and pulled out by the British douane for more than two hours and we heartbroken that this has happened to us. We looked at some hotels in the nearby area to try to make something of our wedding anniversary. We saw online this hotel and the good reviews. There lucky enough one suite available so we didn't doubted and called for reservation. Once we arrived we saw that it was marked as a 4 star hotel but to be honest, it was a 4 star hotel due te time of the previous owners. Not now anymore. The first impression was that there was only one person who was very kind but in charge of everything of the whole hotel... The hotel was worn out as we say it here. Some areas of the hotel were empty, not taking care of, Not maintained to be specific. The pool that should have been there due his previous owners was out of order. Not usable of accesable anymore. Shut down and just left there to rot away crualy speaking. There was a book of the hotel in it's previous state and owners and than you see what a big difference it truly is. It need renovating and maintaining on a lot of areas. The kitchen was even not there anymore so also no possibility to dinner. There were also lots of rooms back in the day used that are now empty. However some other rooms were newly renovated. Like our suite with the Greek theme. Was really nice looking and we had a lot of space and a hottub and big shower in it's bathroom and a free bottle of bubbles. The only negative points we had on the room were the heating devices that not worked and the heating itself that stay cold so it was on the cold side in the room. We mentioned it and the friendly lady said she would give it a look but unfortunately no difference for us. Their were also stains on the mirrors... And no free water bottles. But in general the suite was beautiful and the bed slept really well!! The breakfast was also not worthy of 4 stars in our opinion but rather basic. Was it worthy of the expensive price? In general not. It was not worth what we have paid for. The hotel was highly a 3 stars. The lady herself was really friendly and hard working. We don't know how she's able to run this hotel by herself (or tho we think so) but she tries her best effort. One other positive thing was the amazing view. Just breathtaking. But our honnest opinion (experience with a lot of hotels) they shouldn't have been that expensive tho.

It was probably a beautiful hotel in the past, but it definitely can not be considered a 4 star now!! We arrived at 3 pm and everything was closed. There was a note stating that the check-in times were 8am-12pm/ 4pm-8pm. We tried calling the emergency number on the door - no answer. Surely, a 4 star hotel would have someone available to welcome guests regardless of what time they arrived!! Speaking of operation hours, maybe I should add that after 8 pm, everything is locked: No one in the lobby, no restaurant or bar facility, no one available even when we needed an extra bath towel!!! The rooms are dated and are in need of a major makeover! The bath/shower/jacuzzi was an experience. I almost floorded the place....ohhh and the floors are carpeted!! We also had an issue with the hot water, but as I said, we took it as part of the experience!! Breakfast was decent, and the gentleman on duty tried his best. Hopefully, the owners would consider spending some time, money, and energy into doing a complete makeover to restore this grand old building to its former glory!!
