We loved our stay at Chão do Rio with our three kids. Wonderful communication before & during our stay. The place feels truly authentic, and the peaceful atmosphere of rural life allows you to relax deeply and put things into perspective. Even our usually energetic kids were so calm and happy just playing outside, completely immersed in nature. We truly appreciated the concept of a healthy, eco-conscious stay — it felt both refreshing and inspiring. Absolutely delicious breakfast with oven bread! A few small remarks: •The house can feel a bit chilly if the weather outside isn’t very warm. •We missed having a small sports area with mats for meditation, yoga, or simple workouts. •It’s not really possible to organize bike tours, as the available bikes are quite old and there aren’t dedicated bike paths nearby, especially for children. A special thank you to Louisa, who was incredibly kind to our kids — they still talk about her and can’t forget her warmth and friendliness.

Stunning location, kind and attentive staff, very comfortable houses with great attention to detail, wonderful pool and lots to explore and discover in the area. It couldn't be more perfect for a family get away.

This place is truly special and feels like a poetic experience in Portugal! Out of the 12+ places we stayed, this is one of our favorites. Everything was perfect! When I made the reservation, I mentioned we’d be celebrating our wedding anniversary. The Chão do Rio surprised us with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from its garden. It was so thoughtful and made our trip unforgettable. This place is worth every penny! What I loved most: - The photos reveal what the place is like! - The staff are incredibly kind, polite, and attentive. - The cleanliness is spotless. - The breakfast basket with local treats is a must-try and such a special experience in Serra da Estrela. - The bed and pillows are super comfy. - The functionality of everything! Everything was very well thought out - The soaps made from natural materials - I loved all the local products and this was also a big plus I would like to leave my big thanks to this magical place and all staff! All the women who run this place are amazing!
