I stayed for three nights on a solo trip and had a great experience. The view of the WTC tower was lovely. The bed was incredibly comfortable, probably the best I’ve ever had at any hotel. The room was a bit small, so I’d recommend it more for solo travelers and short stays. Their rooftop is a great spot to hang out with friends and with the views of the NY skyline. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There are work pods available, which is a nice touch, though the breakfast options could use some improvement.

The space is absolutely beautiful. I was recommended the location as a possible place to write. I loved the vibe, the colors and the decor, and commended the cafe for how beautiful it was when buying a salad. I was told that I had to be a guest or buy a day pass or become a member. I didn't know and began to read and ask questions. They responded rather dismissively, reiterating it wasn't free, that I couldn't stay even if I bought things, and answering my questions cuttingly. I understand the staff may have been frustrated over people freeloading the space but I was about to purchase from the cafe and asking questions about the membership, and yet the tone and attitude felt like I was asking for a handout and completely ruined what would have otherwise been such a lovely discovery. They even began ignoring me and talking among themselves, not bothering to notice I still wanted to buy the salad. The place I was so enamored moments before turned bleak and horrid just by a terrible service. I consider that courtesy is the minimum or respect you owe to a person, and it is such a shame that a beautiful place like this doesn't follow that. It is hard to look presentable in a heatwave so maybe that was on me, and the heat may have ruined their disposition, but they would have gotten a membership from me had they been a little kinder. Also, there were mosquitos so be wary.

I've had a number of fine stays at the citizenM. Like other reviews said, you need to understand what you're getting before you stay. However, I have an incredibly bad taste in my mouth after a recent stay. I checked out and a couple hours later realized I had left a sentimental.necklace in the room. I called right away and was told no one had checked into the room yet but that the front desk was not able to get directly in touch with the housekeeping staff. Huh? How is that possible in a hotel? I was told my only option was to open a ticket, which I did. I called again later that night and was told they didn't have any new information. It took OVER A WEEK and many times calling for them to finally confirm to me that they did not have my necklace. How is it that hard to get in touch with housekeeping? Why can't I rely on the simple act of checking a room for a left behind item when I call immediately after checking out? The service level was so incredibly disappointing and off putting that I won't be staying there again.
