City Hotel

Room we had was huge, bathroom huge - a nice treat from some of the usual smaller rooms we have experienced in Ireland. The hotel is being updated and the rooms are ready for it but still nice. The food at Thompsons was fab and the service was excellent!! Free welcome drink as well! Location couldn't be better. an excellent experience!

Hotel was being renovated which is fair enough. Yet people are still being charged full prices. As for it being a 4 star hotel I'm sorry but this is just not the case. In fact the only thing about the hotel being 4 star are the staff. Who are 5 star in our opinion for having to work under such conditions. That said almost all of the rest is down hill. Firstly the rooms they are just not up to any kind of rating even the so called superior room we stayed in in it was of very bad condition. In particular both the bathroom and the bedroom window. As for the bathroom, the toilet wasn't even anchored to the floor as it moved when in use. Now for the bedroom window the draught coming through it was so noisy it was like spending the night in a haunted house. It included some kind of Heath Robinson fix, that consisted of an L bracket device screwed onto the wooden sill. But again the rest of the room especially the carpet condition was rank. As for the meals they are very good. That is the the reason for the service rating along with the great staff. Which all in all get the 3 star total. The sooner the work to update this hotel the better.

The hotel is unfortunate, every week in a surprising way they activate the fire alarm to carry out tests, I think it is a rather aggressive habit to disturb the rest of the guests, the cleaning of the rooms is only done well by two workers, if you want to have a small fridge you must request it, when you arrive there is no one in the room. the elevators smell like old carpet, the parking lot has very limited spaces for the number of rooms it has, even if you have paid for the The whole week if you arrive and there is no room you can not leave it, many of those places are occupied by workers, from my point of view and experience they are far from the 4 stars that I boast .. if it were for my choice I do not return in my life .. I have been in a month and I still have a little left here..
