Clarion Hotel Bergen Airport Terminal

What a great location. We were traveling back from Alesund and flew in to Bergen on our last night in Norway. The Clarion was a five minute walk from baggage claim…it was very convenient. Desk was welcoming and accommodating. We had well furnished rooms. We had a wonderful dinner in The Social Club that had a “something for everyone,” feel. Next morning easy access to the airport took away the travel rush anxiety. Thank you Clarion.

Within walking distance to terminal entrance. Safe walking path. Decent breakfast. I had a minor issue of cleanliness when I got to the room and the front desk / housekeeping took care of it immediately. Bed was soft and shower was hot. A convenient place to stay before a flight. When we arrived we did not get the exact beds we requested. We asked for two twins, not a double/queen and this request was confirmed by the hotel in writing. Upon arrival, they had assigned all the twin rooms owing to the youth athletic competition in town.

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW. Initially I had reported some negatives regarding the hotel. A website stated that the hotel was attached to the airport. We found out that it was not physically attached, but required a walk to from the hotel. This didn’t work w my husbands need for physical assistance. It was midnight and we had to do some scrambling to get to the hotel. We spoke to the guest services (Patricia) about the issue and Clarion offered to pay our return taxi back to the airport. That was good service. There was also miscommunication regarding the serving of lunch with Clarion offering to pay for our lunch the next day. Desk operator Patricia is to be highly recommended for all the service attention she gave to us and I increased my rating on the hotel. Origin review: Be warned if traveling in need of special assistance that this hotel is NOT PHYSICALLY ATTACHED to the airport and requires outdoor walk with baggage. Luckily KLM was able to get us a taxi, but sent us to Comfort Hotel which was actually visibly closer to airport. I had to show Taxi driver a map of location of Clarion hotel in order to get to hotel. Advertising stating that hotel is attached is very misleading! Also very sharp corner of bathroom made for tripping hazard for husband. Luckily we were able to put bright pillow on corner to worn husband of danger. In USA this corner would not pass OSHA requirements. Night lite in bathroom for elderly who need facilities at night also not available. With glass walls in bathroom bright light filled the room at night. Otherwise room/breakfast were good. Under our circumstances however this was not a good fit. Better for young people or those w/o needing assistance. UPDATE: When we arrived at night we were told that we could get lunch the next day in the restaurant. However, when we entered the restaurant we were told that the restaurant was reserved entirely by a student athlete group and we couldn’t eat there. The girl at the desk (Patricia) apologized for the confusion, but did tell us we could buy a ham and cheese sandwich which was helpful, but is not what we were told by the night desk when we came in from our flight. I had to remove another star from our review. Also there was no safe to lock up valuables in room 342. Very unusual for a travel hotel.
