Clarion Hotel Townsville

Not impressed at all. False advertising on Expedia….no bath tub, no restaurant, no bar, no room service, no coffee machine, no robes…checked in 10pm after long flight no mention that they have zero amenities. Ring reception asking where my advertised bath tub is to be advised that no rooms have baths, enquire about room service and what time cafe opens for breakfast to be advised that hotel was sold and they don’t offer that anymore. Seriously! $249 for a bed. Not happy Jan! Get better value in Melbourne & Sydney at much fancier hotel. Ring Expedia who contact hotel The Clarion advise them I can have a voucher to local cafe when I rebook! Like I’m going to waste my money there again. False advertising is still illegal though. Don’t stay here if you want any amenities they have none

Wouldn’t recommend a long stay at this hotel, was a bit below its 3 star rating. The staff were friendly and helpful but the room itself was pretty bad. Mouldy shower, broken towel rack and leaky shower that flooded the bathroom floor. The bed was comfortable but unfortunately filled with bed bugs. Woke up every morning with new bites and it wasn’t till my final night that I realised it was bed bugs. Squashed one on my arm in the middle of the night and then took a closer look and saw more. Not a nice thing to know you’ve been sleeping in a bed full of bugs for 5 nights.

Very disappointed. Asked for an extra night so had to pay for upgrade. Room was terrible. Dim lighting, terrible curtains with broken clips, no kettle, no hair-dryer, no dish liquid or teatowel, tiny bathroom basin, pillows were shocking. This should not happen in an upgraded room especially. The only positive was Scott who ran around tirelessly to accommodate us. 10/10 for him. Reception took note of all complaints and said manager would call me. Haven't heard a word. Will never stay here again
