Good points include the breakfast, the beach, the reception staff. The layout of the rooms and colour scheme work well. The room smelled of cigarette smoke masked by febreeze. The old worn stained carpet smelled. Air conditioning not great. I opened up the sofa bed and it hadn't been cleaned and there were toe nail clippings. Change the carpet and it could make the experience a lot better Don't recommend for anyone with accessibility needs. Ramps stop short of the ground. Lift only accessible from every other floor. Lots of marble steps in the main building without rails.
Spent an easy weekend there. The hotel is attended by nice&helpful staff, and boasts a rich breakfast, even in January which is, for the region, the deepest off-season you can imagine. Our room was a penthouse in an annex, clean enough, but not perfect. Discrete signs of wear and tear are visible on both the exterior and interior of the building. The elevator was blocked for a day due to the cleaning lady's mishandling - took a simple reset to put it to operation again, but nobody bothered for the whole day. The surrounding should be nice during the high season, but looked a bit derelicte now, probably as the spring make-up is due in less than a month. The historical Diocletian''s palace is 10 min away by car, and there is a 9-hole golf course and a marina with a camp site within a walking distance. A solid C, altogether.
Location is great but the room was disappointing. They said ocean view, which yes, you can see a smidge through some other buildings to the left, but our balcony was 99% facing a concrete facade. The room carpet is very very iffy, with long hairs and doesnt seem to be cleaned properly, it was crisp bits stuck between the hairs. We walked in flipflops indoors for a week as we didn't want to touch the carpet From what I heard the rooms in the Main building (San Antonio) does not have this carpet and are much better. The service was overall good (sometimes a little curt, but I feel like that is expected when travelling in the area, so I don't mind) the restaurant staff is friendly and helpful. A little confusing to understand how to get beach beds and umbrellas, and the price seemed to differ each day on the umbrella. Some infoboard would have been nice. Also not really anyone going around to take orders by the beach beds, would be nice and probably a very good source of money for the hotel if the service to the beach beds w drinks and snacks were better. They also don't have chips/crisps in the bar, which I found a little weird for a beach bar, I'm thinking that would sell super well.
