Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane

I stayed at this hotel and honestly had a great experience. The hotel’s in a sleek, modern building down in the Docklands, and the vibe is super chill. One of my favorite parts was the leisure center — there’s a pool, sauna, and even a spa if you’re in the mood to treat yourself. My room was clean, modern, and way more spacious than I expected. It just felt really comfortable. Plus, the price was totally fair for what you get. Location-wise, it’s in a quiet area but still just a 15-minute walk to the city center, which was perfect for me — close enough to all the action, but far enough to relax. Would definitely stay here again!

The entire third floor had a musky smell to it. The room itself was pleasant but there was an old smoky musky smell inside where there was no ventilation as the window could only open a couple cm while the fan helped. There were lots of stains on the carpet. Bedding was nice and clean. Only two pillows on the bed. The back of the TV remote kept falling off. On the positive the staff were lovely and pleasant to deal with and the breakfast was good. The location is fabulous as it's Central.

Sadly, this is the 3rd time a clayton hotel has completely misinformed me before booking. Called ahead, prior to booking, to double check their advertised "laundry facilities" and was told they definitely had this amenity available - when asked if they had self service/coin operated laundry. Planned the trip for myself and clients, counting on this stop half way through, to wash our items. Booked in multiple rooms at almost $300 per room per night. Upon arrival I was told 3rd party laundry service was the only option, and that it is picked up at 8am each day. Approx 8 hours before check-in is allowed. So even over night laundry service is not an option. Also, if you opt to add breakfast to your room ahead of time - be sure to check your bill. All of my clients were double billed for breakfast, just like last time. It's so disappointing as the rooms are quite nice. Good hotel - Just not worth the staff communication hassles, refund wait times, and misinformation to guests prior to arrival.
