My partner and I stayed here on the 11th July on a bed and breakfast basis. We love Lytham and always said we should stay longer than just a day trip, we were not disappointed. Check in was smooth and easy. Our room 120, was away from any hustle and bustle that there may have been. The only negative and it is a small one, the shower was not very powerful. At breakfast we were greeted by a lady who was very professional yet warm and friendly. The breakfast itself was delicious with plenty of choices. Checkout was at 11am so it gave us a chance to have a little walk to the seafront. Every member of staff that we encountered were friendly, smiley and helpful, a very rare thing today. Management should be congratulated. Would I recommend this hotel, definitely. Would we return? absolutely.
Fab location, lovely well presented public areas. Really lovely helpful friendly staff. Bedroom had lovely views over the estuary, but considering we were in one of the best rooms the mismatched furniture and badly marked two tables let the hotel down. However the bed was very comfy and the fan was a nice extra on the hot couple of nights.
The Clifton Arms Hotel has a reputation of possibly being the premier hotel in Lytham. I recently attended a funeral for a close family member there. We were able to reserve a parking space for a disabled person. The room (The Talbot Suite) was fine and the food sufficient with a gluten free option. Some staff were helpful, others were not and should probably not be in the hospitality trade. Although a sombre occasion the attendees wanted to remember the deceased with fun and laughter. The widow received an email two days later stating the bill had not been paid (it had, the food and room several days earlier the bar bill on the day). The events assistant she spoke with to notify them of their error could not have been more dismissive with no empathy for the distress this email had caused. I frequently called into the Clifton whilst in Lytham for a beverage or food, however I will now take my custom elsewhere. The standards of this establishment have lowered considerably and some training in dealing with the public would not go amiss.
