Clouds Montville

We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin was clean, secluded and location boasted gorgeous views from the mountain. The service was really friendly, area was quaint & special. The only thing we wished was that the on-site cafe provided more than just a continental breakfast. If there was the option of bacon and eggs, we wouldn’t have gone elsewhere for breaky. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Rooms are nice and comfy, but definitely not 4 star. There are no staff available and my messages weren't responded to, nor was I contacted after the lovely cleaner offered to call the manager for me and asked again for her to contact me (my partner ended up in hospital the night of check-in and has been there throughout the stay and I was asking whether there were any partial cancellation options available). Restaurant, cafe, and office closed during entire 3 day stay. Car parking and self check-in not very clear when you're arriving late at night and stressed. Road is pretty noisy, as is the pool (Filtration system? Water feature?), so not great if you're looking for somewhere quiet and specifically booked the area for that reason. You "must" wash and dry any dishes used and return them to their original location or you'll incur a fee. No cleaning or towels provided during my 3 day stay. "Guest compendium" link provided in booking email doesn't work - URL doesn't exist. Washing machine said to be provided but I can't find it and the book says to request laundry detergent from reception, but reception doesn't open (ever). Stay could have nice under different circumstances, but the main kicker for me was the complete lack of response - dead silence - despite my extremely distressing situation. If reception, cafe, etc do not open (despite opening hours stated on signage), the signage should be removed, room booklet info changed, etc.

Came up for a night and there was no one in reception. Check email as per sign and there wasn’t one with code for lockbox with room key. Called number and no one answered. Lucky someone arrived (not sure who) and got our key out of the box. Another guest said they had to walk around to find key. A random reception door was unlocked with a bunch of guest envelopes with keys sitting on a bench. Room was nice, not super clean. Was looking forward to continental breakfast that was meant to be provided with booking though cafe wasn’t open and again no one even at the site. Water pump/waterfall going all night which was a bit noisy. Honestly would have been a better stay with a bit of in person customer service or at least advertised it’s all self check in and obviously no breakfast/cafe open. Options for a fire pit would have been nice for the chilly night.
