Cocobay Unawatuna

Very nice hotel. Great location: close to Galle and surfspots but still in a quite little bay. Rooms have everything. Service is great. Very helpful and friendly people. Massage therapist is very good and the restaurant outstanding.

Such a great place. Relaxed, shabby chic boutique and kind staff. Right on the beach with almost private access. Sea calm and warm. Good breakfast and great seafood. Took a room with plunge pool which was excellent. No thumping music. The right distance from Unawatuna by 5 min Tuktuk. Surf lessons easy to reach.

Hotel Cocobay enjoys a fantastic location right by the sea – peaceful yet conveniently situated. The rooms are beautifully designed and feel truly luxurious, making it a comfortable place to stay. However, the hotel is showing signs of age, and certain areas could benefit from some updates. The service was a bit inconsistent – while some staff members were friendly and helpful, others, especially at the reception, came across as rather unwelcoming. A serious concern is the hotel dog that lies near the reception. Unfortunately, it has been known to bite, and guests are not clearly warned about this. Caution is definitely advised, particularly for families with children or anyone uncomfortable around dogs. Overall, it’s a hotel with both strengths and weaknesses. If you value stylish rooms and a great location, this place might be for you – just don’t expect top-tier service, and be extra careful around the lobby area.
