Collins Hotel Melbourne

Great location, ignoring the trams you can walk almost everywhere (don't ignore the trams!) Rooms are well appointed and great when you compare what a traditional hotel gets you. Kitchenette, sofa, plenty of room for when you just need an hour or two to recharge for the next activity.

Looking for a cheap and cheerful place to lay your head in downtown Melbourne CBD? Well, here's the place. You are in the thick of things, right on Collins Street, within walking distance of great shops and places to eat. Our room was large and comfortable, with a small kitchen and a separate bedroom. The bed was very comfy! Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We found the shower a bit small, but it was great to have a separate bathroom, with plenty of toiletries. We will definitely come again! (Also, getting in after reception hours on a Sunday was very easy, and there is dedicated parking nearby.)

Great location for Comedy Festival season. Theatres opposite, right and left. It was like the Paris end of that street had insomnia ; constant human traffic. Hotel room at back of building - no view except for neighbouring building walls, scaffoldings, a couple of pigeons. Not sure if other levels of floor had wheelchair access or not for the hallway outside rooms have split level. Our room had split level separating lounge and bathroom/toilet. Facilities were great for room except for wall plugs not working. Don't expect USB plug ins for charging phones or other devices.
