I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Alpin Poiana Brașov for a weekend, and it was truly a wonderful experience from start to finish. The location is absolutely stunning, nestled in the heart of the mountains with panoramic views that are perfect for relaxing. The hotel itself is modern, clean, and well-maintained, offering a great balance of comfort and luxury. The rooms are spacious, with high-quality furnishings, and everything was spotlessly clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful sleep after a long day of exploring. The bathroom was well-equipped, and the in-room amenities were top-notch. One of the highlights of our stay was the spa area—after a day of hiking, it was the perfect place to unwind. The wellness center is fantastic, with a great selection of treatments, a heated pool, and a sauna that were all in excellent condition. The hotel’s restaurant serves delicious food, and the service was impeccable. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, and their attention to detail made the stay feel extra special. Whether you’re looking to relax, enjoy some outdoor activities, or simply unwind in a serene setting, Hotel Alpin Poiana Brașov has everything you could ask for. I can’t recommend this place enough and will definitely be returning!

Iconic hotel from the socialist days that's well maintained and is still luxurious and quite relevant today. That said, it's got some smallish issues. It feels a bit like it belongs to another era. The carpet, as usual in hotels, is a bit smelly and they perfume it to cover the smell, which is not great if you don't want to inhale perfume. Speaking of smell, our neighbors have been smoking on the terrace a lot which should be illegal anywhere on these premises, not sure if it's allowed on terraces and balconies, but it's definitely a major problem. There are almost no power outlets in a large fancy apartment. There was no electric kettle, only a strange espresso device that didn't seem to work, or at least needs an instructions manual. The beds seemed great at first until we realized they have memory foam mattresses. But generally, they invested in quality for everything, furniture, appliances, bathroom things, windows, doors, so on. The main indoor pool is large, from 1.5m at one end to 2.2m at the other. A bit heated, not too chlorinated. Two small pools for children and a few jacuzzis that we haven't used. An outdoor pool I think, but we haven't seen it. Two saunas, the wet one was particularly interesting because: hot. Two showers only in the pool area. And the breakfast was special, varied, luxurious. The sweets section was a bit less amazing, but I was impressed with the honeycomb rack, you never see that anywhere.

Our stay was free and this is my honest review My family and I enjoyed our spacious apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living room. The impressive breakfast buffet was problematic, though. The pool area was okay, with a large, clean, and warm pool (too warm for lap swimming). The dry sauna was great, and my therapist, Mariana, was amazing. Customer service was exceptional, with everyone ready to help, accommodate, and provide feedback. However, there were several issues: - The pool lacked a lifeguard, and I rescued an elderly man who thought he could reach the bottom. The shallowest depth is 1.5m (4’9”), and there are too many pool toys that no one picks up. The smallest kids’ pool is too deep for babies. - The breakfast had a major red flag: the croissant sandwiches were made with cheese, deli meats, and bacon and placed under a hot lamp, which is dangerous and can cause food poisoning. - The AC unit in the kids’ room was broken, but the windows were open enough to stay cool. The kitchenette sink was severely leaking, and the small bathroom magnifying mirror was ready to fall off. Both bathrooms had the sewer smell if the toilet cover was left open. The jacuzzi tub had pink slime growing around the jets. - The outside access door closest to our apartment was always propped open. The building is complicated to navigate, and there wasn’t a map available. The floors are uneven and marked by a strip of light that blinds you. The outside is outdated, with plaster falling off. Despite the amazing staff and hard work, there are many safety practices and training issues that make this hotel not a 4* hotel.
