The service at Conrad Shanghai is excellent, and the location is also superb. GRO Loreina and Diana warmly welcomed us during check-in and gave a detailed introduction to the hotel’s facilities. Aria provided professional and efficient service at check-out, completing the process very quickly. Carat kindly helped us upgrade our room. Overall, a wonderful experience.

- Mentioned birthday celebration couple of times but the hotel does not provide any celebrations of any sorts. No room upgrades available despite on Amex FHR program and Honors Gold member. - Rooms need a good refurbishment for a 5-star hotel. The lowest tier rooms were worse in shape (yellow marble tiles, rusty mirror frames, dented cabinets, popped bathroom tiles, broken shower head etc) than the premium rooms (less but not much better). Would recommend taking premium and above if possible. - Breakfast mostly hits but kind of repetitive. - Reception always had a queue but service was great as well as the concierge. - Not the best location for cheaper didi taxi pickups as they can't turn into the lobby due to a one way lane, so pickup was on the road outside, hence not convenient for families with prams. Not an issue for more expensive taxis.

Disappointing Experience Despite Great Location *Stayed: June 10–13, 2025* I have to admit, the location of Conrad Shanghai is excellent—very convenient, with plenty of shops within a 5-minute walk. However, the overall experience was quite disappointing. Check-in was scheduled for 3:00 PM. I arrived early and was told no rooms were available, which was understandable. I returned around 3:30 PM, only to be told again that the room wasn’t ready but would be available shortly. While waiting in the lobby, a staff member approached me, claiming I hadn’t paid. I explained that I had prepaid during booking, but they insisted otherwise—only to later realize they had simply forgotten to ask for a deposit card. I waited until 3:45 PM with no updates. When I approached the desk again, I was told the room had been ready for a while. No one had informed me. When I asked about the delay, the explanation was that all rooms were occupied the night before and needed cleaning. Frankly, that’s not an acceptable excuse—it's the hotel’s responsibility to have rooms ready by the promised check-in time. Additionally, I had made two separate bookings and informed the staff in advance, asking them not to check me out between stays. Unfortunately, my room card was deactivated the next day, and all my credits were wiped. I had to return to the front desk to have everything reinstated. To make matters worse, they even spelled my daughter’s name wrong—despite me providing the correct spelling in advance. When I pointed it out, they claimed it must have been a typo on my part. I didn’t want to argue, but honestly, would a mother spell her own daughter’s name wrong? It felt like yet another instance of the staff making excuses instead of taking responsibility. The room itself was not very clean. The bathroom had mold, and there was no place to hang clothes while showering. Overall, the service and cleanliness did not meet the standards I expected from a Conrad property. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and works to improve the guest experience.
