My stay at Conrad Urumqi was exceptional from start to finish. The service was impeccable, with staff who were warm, attentive, and highly professional. They truly made me feel valued as a guest. The room was luxurious, spacious, and beautifully designed, offering great comfort and excellent amenities. I especially appreciated the attention to detail and the high standard of cleanliness. The hotel’s location is convenient, and the facilities—particularly the executive lounge, gym, and dining options—were all top-notch. Breakfast offered a wide range of local and international choices, all fresh and well-presented.
Preface: I am a Hilton Diamond member. This came with a room upgrade, executive lounge access, and breakfast. Things started out pretty rough. None of the rooms have air conditioning here, which is odd considering it's the highest tier hotel in Urumqi. My first room was 30C (86F) when I entered. It felt like a sauna in there. I was sweating just sitting on the couch. The front desk agreed to move me to another room, which ended up being 26C. Still unacceptable. I was one room switch away from asking for a refund. That's when they moved me to the King Deluxe Suite, and my god, this changed everything. The room was massive, with a bedroom, living room, bathroom, hallway connecting the three, and a guest bathroom in the living room. For a solo traveler, this was overkill, but it did resolve the heat issue and that's what mattered. Here's where things really turned around. Once I finally settled in, I made my way to the executive lounge on the 37th floor. Immediately, I was greeted by the hostess, Lucy. In US-based Hiltons with executive lounges (the few that are still around), executive lounges are all self-serve buffets. But this Conrad's executive lounge has a menu with made-to-order items. The items were: snapper, grilled sirloin steak, spaghetti bolognese, and seafood curry. There's also a self-serve refreshments and snack bar with things like garlic bread, pretzels, and fresh fruits. This experience was incredible. It felt like a fancy sit-down dinner, but complimentary with Diamond status. I ordered 2 entrees one day and 2 entrees the other day, trying all 4 before checking out. The entrees also come with a starter salad and small dessert cakes. Check out the attached photos. Taste was decent -- nothing to write home about. But it was free so no complaints here. Breakfast was similar fantastic. The restaurant had a large buffet spread with both eastern and western food options. I especially liked that they also offered a made-to-order menu on top of the buffet selection. I ordered the beef wonton soup along with a stack of mini mango pancakes. And the service level reflected the upscale feel of the restaurant. This hotel went above and beyond in every single part of its offering. Service, amenities, and comfort were all top notch. I can't wait to return to this Conrad next time I'm in Urumqi. A big thank you to these staff members for making my stay incredible: Lucy - Executive lounge Billy - Breakfast
I did not actually stay here but I could not find anyone who spoke English at my hotel, or other tourist places in the city. So I came in to ask some questions. Mark Bai, the manager, was really gracious and helpful even when I told him I was not staying at the hotel. Much appreciated.
