We stayed overnight last week on a road trip through the north. The hotel is very nice with lovely grounds. I think they should swap out the picture of the kids slide on google, as it's not a kiddy hotel, although their were plenty of families there. The hotel is chic with a great pool area outside, restaurant seating around the interior convent and lots of quiet places to sit and relax. Our room was very clean, modern and spacious, with a little terrace outside. Breakfast buffet served by staff due to Covid, and the basic breakfast was fine, nothing particularly noteworthy. I would happily stay there again.
A nice family owned place off the beaten path under slight tension. Booked it to go fishing on the Minho river with a local guide which was fabulous. From the internet a place with high expectations that was off from reality. They couldn’t find our reservations. Electricity took 30 min to function correctly. Mini-bar fridges not cold. One of my biggest issues was that the hot water is time restricted (~2 hrs) in the morning and evening in which no one informed us of when checking in. Took several cold showers as a result. Food was so-so. My family was glad to move on.
Unfortunately not worth the visit. The garden is nice and the building was elegantly renovated but the whole place is poorly managed. Avoid during winter as it's very cold and the rooms are not properly insolated. It took a couple of hours to warm up our room. The bathroom doesn't have any heating or extraction fan. Also avoid paying more for the suites as the extra space serves no purpose and the view is to the back of the building (check the view from our suite on the photo attached). Staff needs proper hospitality training. The first person at the reception wasn't fit for the role of welcoming guests. Be aware, the spa requires extra fees. The breakfast was good.
